The Bridges Program of Children FED is teaming up with SHANITA to present a real opportunity for many students of rural Karamoja to embrace education as an avenue to a better future. As the start of the school year in Uganda is just around the corner, we want to help as many children as possible to go to school.
WHERE WE ARE
Karamoja is an arid, remote region in north-eastern Uganda populated by the Karimojong people. The region is classified as one of the world’s poorest areas, with high malnutrition rates and a disproportionate number of people living in absolute poverty. Most children in Karamoja don’t attend primary school, making literacy rates in the region the lowest in the country, keeping the entire region in a vicious cycle of poverty.
WHO ARE WE?
SHANITA is an Israeli organization that focuses on education to support children who have been excluded from educational opportunities due to conflict, discrimination or poverty.
In 2019 SHANITA started a sponsorship program for local communities in Uganda to help make schools accessible to children in surrounding villages. The program has helped dozens of children break out of poverty and steer their future to a better place. Now the program is expanding to the Karamoja region.
Children FED is teaming up with SHANITA to present a real opportunity for many students of rural Karamoja to embrace education as an avenue to a better future.
As the start of the school year in Uganda is just around the corner, we want to help as many children as possible to go to school.
The sponsorship program is established in an area where no other academic solutions (governmental or private) are provided. Beyond education, the program provides every student with their immediate needs, such as a safe and secure place to learn, clean drinking water, nutritious meals, and appropriate medical assistance when required.
We are looking for dedicated partners to join us and change the lives of children who need our help. The process is simple, accessible, and meticulous, providing comprehensive support for a specific student – updating you with their progress and growth throughout their studies.
